A bakers cyst or popliteal cyst  is a fluid filled cyst. It causes swelling and behind the knee and pain. The pain increases when you flex your knee fully or when you extend your knee. Excess fluid of the knee joint is compressed between the bones of the knee joint by the body weight. The fluid can be trapped and separate from the joint to form a fluid filled cyst.

Bakers cyst can be caused due to arthritis, meniscal cartilage tear, osteoarthritis, damage to the knee joints etc.
