Bedwetting-Home Remedies

Most of the people are affected by bedwetting which occurs during sleep. It occurs in boys comparatively more than girls. It is medically referred as Enuresis. It is defined as an unintentional urine discharge. It usually occurs in children up to an age of six or seven years. It is usually an uncontrolled discharge of urine in the sleep. The most common symptom is the urination during sleep.
The various causes for bedwetting include: immature nervous system or the non sensitivity of the fullness of bladder, urinary infections, genetic and hormonal factors. Small bladders and stress factors also cause bedwetting. A few diseases such as anemia, epilepsy and diabetes also cause bedwetting. The only symptom is the unintentional or uncontrolled urine discharge. It is important to make the child to understand that bedwetting is unhealthy.
Consult your doctor if the problem exists after trying the home remedies. A few home remedies to treat bedwetting are:
- Consume about 6-8 oz. of cranberry juice one hour before going to bed.
- Consume 2 walnut halves with 1tsp of raisins before going to bed.
- Herbal teas such as horsetail, bearberry, wormwood etc. can be consumed.
- Lemon balm tea can also be consumed to reduce bedwetting effectively.
- Consume bananas to avoid bedwetting problem.
- Chew a bark of cinnamon is yet another effective remedy for bedwetting.
- Avoid the intake of sweets, meat and other artificial additives.
You can also avoid bedwetting in various ways.
- Avoid the intake of water and other fluids at least two hours from the time of sleeping.
- A healthy diet should be consumed that includes leafy vegetables.
- Make the child to pass urine before going to bed. Also try alarm system that awakens the child at particular intervals to go to bathroom and pass urine.
- When the child wets the bed, ask them to change the bed sheets; this makes them feel not to wet in the bed again.
- Also avoid fruits like orange, apples, grapes and its juices during bed time.
