Brain Tumor- Causes And Symptoms

Tumors are the result of abnormal cell division and growth in the brain. These tumors can originate from either the primary brain cells such as membranes, blood vessels etc. which form the other brain mechanism or from the development of cancer cells in the organs that are spread to the brain through the blood stream.

Causes of brain tumor:

The definite cause for the brain tumor is yet to be known. But it is not a contagious disease. So as per the study, below are the few main factors that cause brain tumors in an individual:

  • Exposure of head to some type of radiations during the past in as a treatment to some form of malignancies.
  • Gender is the main cause of tumors as it is mostly found in males.
  • Age can also be one of the causes, since tumor development is detected most in people of age group 60 and more and also in children who are of below 8 years age.
  • Infected by HIV or due to smoking cigarette
  • Family background that is it can be inherited genetically.
  • Ecological toxins such as chemicals that are used in rubber factories, oil refineries and in embalm industries.

Symptoms of Brain tumor:

The symptom of brain tumor varies among different patients, few of which are mentioned below:

  • Severe headache- With 46% of people reporting of headache is one of the most common symptoms. There are many forms of headache and people often get headache for various other reasons, so it need not be an exact sign of tumor. The tumor head ache is often associated with nausea or vomiting along with other symptoms mentioned here.
  • Seizures- With 33% of people reporting, is the second most common cause. Seizure is a condition which involves sudden, spontaneous behavioral change and muscle perception and control. This can also be caused due to high fever, epilepsy, trauma etc. But whatever may be the reason this symptom must not be ignored and get your brain scanned.
  • Hearing or vision problem: With 25% people reporting, is one of the easily detected symptom. So appearance of this problem must be immediately diagnosed from an eye doctor as they can make out the signs of improved pressure just by looking into your eyes.
  • Weakness of arms, legs etc- With 34% people reporting, can suffer change in the style of walking, dropping materials, unusual facial expression and falling. It can also be stroke symptoms. So its better you report to doctor as soon as you notice these changes.
  • Cognitive changes- Many reported behavioral changes such as short term memory loss and lose of concentration, patience and inhibitions- speaking and doing things that are inappropriate.

Sometimes these kinds of symptoms can be detected in people not having brain tumor at all. Therefore, it is better to consult a doctor, get diagnosed your brain to make sure whether you have brain tumor or not.
