Forgot Your WiFi Key: Recover Them Using “WirelessKeyView”
Do you want to access the WPA (WiFi Protected Access) key since you reloaded Windows or didn’t remember to save the WPA key to your system? Do you have to recover the wireless key to access your network from your friend’s computer and forgotten the key?
Then, use the ‘WirelessKeyView’ or ask your router to reset the key immediately. If you have to protect your network from people who can misuse them, then it is necessary for you to encrypt it with a code so as to make it completely secure. WPA or WPA2 is a security protocol available on any wireless network. The security system of WPA and WPA2 is mightier than the WEP protocol. Hence, WPA needs to be used for protecting your network securely.
By default, Windows will hide your precious WPA and WEP keys stored in your system so as to be able to connect to different WiFi networks, if you have saved the keys on your system. This feature prevents you from accessing the network via any other computer other than your own, if you have forgotten the key. WirelessKeyView is a simple, small and a user friendly software that enables you to use the keys.
The following instructions need to be followed.
1. Run the software ‘WirelessKeyView’ to visualize all the WiFi networks that you have accessed and saved on to your PC.
The software will decode all the available WiFi keys that has been stored in your operating system using its default mechanism of WiFi Zero configuration. (Note: This application does not open the keys stored by third party network software.) Neither the software has to be installed nor does it require DLL files in addition.
2. Copy the .EXE file (executable file) to a folder of your choice and select Run.
As soon you select Run command, the main window will display all WPA/WEP keys stored in your system by ‘Wireless Zero Configuration’ service offered by Windows. The WEP keys are displayed in the ASCII format. For convenience purpose, its better to delete the old keys of your network and save a copy of the new keys in your personal folder or take a hard copy of it and keep it with you for future needs.
