Heat Strokes-Home Remedies

Heat stroke is a type of hyperthermia and referred as sunstroke, heat contractions and heat fatigue. This condition occurs when the temperature of the body raises a lot more than the normal body temperature. It is the inability of the body to lose sweat and cool naturally. This can be life threatening if not treated properly.

Some of the common symptoms of heat stroke include: increased body temperature and decrease in the sweating, anxiety, difficulty in breathing, confusion and seizures or convulsions and loss of consciousness. In rare and extreme cases, the individual might suffer from hallucinations or illusions. The main causes are: excess clothing, alcoholism, dysfunction of sweat glands, excessive exercising, pregnancy and obesity.

Consult your doctor in extreme scenarios. There are various home remedies that can be used to treat sun strokes, such as:

  • Prepare a juice using raw mango. Take the pulp of boiled mango; add jaggery, salt, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and black peppercorns. This is very useful in treating heat strokes. The individual can eat raw mango as it is if he/she can.
  • Chop onion into small pieces and put it in a cloth. Squeeze the cloth top get the juice. Consume this juice to get immediate relief from sun strokes. You can also eat onion along with a salad to prevent heat strokes.
  • You can also apply peppermint oil on the skin to cool down or decrease the body temperature.
  • Add peppercorn powder to coconut milk and prepare a paste. Apply this paste on the individual’s chest.
  • Consume coriander extract along with some sugar added into it. You can also try the same with tulsi leaves extract.
  • Soak a few plums in water. Once they are soft, smash it in water and drain the mixture. Drink this water to get immediate relief. You can also try the same procedure with amla fruits as well.
  • Add salt to butter milk and consume this drink 3-4 times a day. This will also help in reducing the body temperature.
  • Add some rose syrup to water and drink this mixture daily. This will also help in reducing the body temperature.
