The AT&T and HP (Hewlett Packard) have joined together for the latest release of their mobile phone, the ‘HP iPaq Glisten.’ The phone has its dimensions, 4.45 x 2.48 x 0.52 inches and weighs 5.29 ounces. The phone features a QWERTY keyboard having a 5-way directional pad, an AMOLED touch screen offering additional functionality and a display screen of 2.5 inches with a resolution of 320×240 pixels. Glisten is termed as a business phone since it features all the required office software built into it.

The phone has a processor of 528MHz, flash memory of 512MB for quicker processing, Windows Mobile 6.5 as the OS and a RAM of 256MB, hence it is fast. The mobile also features an A-GPS and Wi-Fi which can operate on 3G/2G networks and offers great speed of the internet with the 3G of AT&T. The phone features a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone has a smooth touch at the rear end. Inside the package, you will notice a battery, a USB charger and the microUSB cable along with the phone.

The phone is very slim. The keyboard is great with nice buttons of proper size. The D-Pad is slightly tiny and might prove to be uncomfortable for some people. The keyboard consists of a special key for mail, GPS and other service buttons. The graphics and menu don’t have fine quality due to the QVGA display resolution. It utilizes a honeycomb menu which looks fashionable but brings some minor flaws into the phone. Almost all the menus are designed to be used by the finger.

The phone provides a camera of 3.1 Mega pixels with the ‘HP Photosmart Mobile’, ‘Internet Explorer Mobile 6’ for browsing websites quickly, 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 version with WPA2 security, ‘Voice Commander’ feature for smart control using hands free, supports ‘Windows Marketplace for Mobile’ to access various apps and prints directly to network, Bluetooth or local printer using ‘JetCet Print, Microsoft Office Mobile which includes PowerPoint, Word, OneNote and Excel and Microsoft Exchange or Active Sync to synchronize with your PC.

The phone has a battery lifetime of five hours and a standby time of 15 days. The HP Glisten will be released very soon and is available at a price of $179.99 after a rebate of $50 and with a warrant of two years.

The HP iPaq Glisten keeps it fairly straightforward in the features department, remaining focused on the most essential tools for business users. As we noted earlier, the smartphone is running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional Edition, so you get some of the new benefits of the updated OS, such as Microsoft’s My Phone backup service, Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and an improved Internet Explorer Mobile.
