The new HP Mini 311 laptop has a 11.6 inch screen with a resolution of 1,366×768 pixels. It features a graphics chip of Nvidia available at a price of $399. The processor is an Intel N270 along with Windows XP as the operating system and a 1GB RAM. The Nvidia though not a true GPU, provides enormous power so that you can play video files of HD with comfort and also play some games simultaneously. The performance is not affected for tasks which do not involve graphics like Hulu.

The laptop has a screen of high resolution and amazing graphics inbuilt into it. The entire framework is generic, gray, dull plastic with either a white or a black lid having a light swirl pattern. The white version will cost you $20 extra. The system is strong but the lid is not flexible when pulling it open or shut. The keys of the keyboard have a beautiful, ornamental shape and are wide faced. But, the keys appear to be loose and weak while typing. The touch pad is not that good since it provides heavy resistance to your fingers.

You need to change the settings of the control panel to rotate the pointer speed for more comfort while using the touch pad. Two mouse buttons which are silver-like looks inexpensive and fragile. The key attraction of the laptop is the LED display which is 11.6 inches wide. But the screen is very smooth and the plastic screen bezel in black is very shiny. The laptop features a connection set which is standard. But, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 802.11n connectivity’s will be charged separately if you wish to include them in your laptop.

You have some options available for networking, mobile broadband and the CPU. Simple tasks like email, Web surfing, basic Photoshop work and office tasks performed quite well. Games can be played respectably. Excellent video playback is provided by the device. Flash’s updated version allows the streaming web video to avail the GPU to its advantage. The laptop is extremely appealing with its extended battery life of five hours and twenty minutes which allows the users to play games and watch videos on long distance trips.

HP provides a one year warranty for labor and parts with an industry standard. If you upgrade your plan to 3 years, then you will have to pay $179 extra which compensates for accidental damage protection also. You can avail the customer support via a 24*7 phone line which is toll free along with driver downloads and an online knowledge base.
