HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx Review
The HP Pavilion laptop has an AMD Dual core processor, hard drive of capacity 7,200rpm and a memory of 4GB. It has great looks and has many ports. But, the battery life of the laptop is less. The laptop has the typical HP finish, ‘Moonlight Imprint’ and the body is a plastic one. The laptop has a snowy white color with a neat pattern of gray curved lines. Though its glittery, fingerprints are not seen easily. At the lid’s left corner, a strange, backlit logo of HP, appearing like a tiny LCD, is present.
If you open the lid, you can see the display hinges and a LCD bezel which is glossy black. The keyboard is surrounded by a white metal which is perforated and the palm and keyboard rests pairs up with the lid. The touch pad, the buttons and the laptop’s sides are made of chrome. On the keyboard’s top portion, you have a strip which is touch sensitive, that controls volume and icons to mute the audio and activate the Wi-Fi. HP incorporates a tiny remote control which can be placed in the ExpressCard slot.
You have a keyboard which is quite comfortable for a small laptop as this, but the keys are very smooth and slippery. The touchpad is small and broad. It has a finish of chrome and hence creates drag and accumulates fingerprints. A tiny button is present just above the touchpad which allows you to keep it shut when not in use. The screen is 14.1 inches wide and is a LCD one with a standard resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. The display is bright and movies appear great on it. The icons and the text are also understandable.
Viewing at off-angles and the stereo speakers which offer high volume with zero distortion are stunning when compared with the other devices. A microphone and a serviceable Webcam are situated on the top of the screen. The connection and the port assortment are classy for a laptop of this size. The addition of an HDMI port and a USB / eSATA combination port is one of its attractions. You have an expansion port which is the proprietary of HP which can be extended using an ExpressCard slot.
No Bluetooth connectivity is present in this notebook, but you have the 802.11g to fulfill your wireless purposes. You are also provided with a modem which is nice. If you have to order the laptop with the same body having different components, you can get it done through the Company’s website. The laptop is capable of multitasking excellently. The notebook handles streaming video and audio extremely well and also instantaneously performs light photo editing, basic office tasks, running IM and e-mail clients and Web browsing.
The laptop operated for two hours and a half while using the additional 6-cell battery which is average when compared to the other devices. It is qualified as an ‘Energy Star.’ HP has awarded a one year warranty, an industry standard and a toll free support through the telephone which is present 24*7 in the duration of the warranty. The Company’s website provides an option ‘chat’ with a representative of technical support in real time. If you are planning to solve the problems by yourself, then you need to search the FAQ database of the website.
