Nokia 2730 Classic Review
The Nokia 2730 Classic is an economical mobile phone unveiled by a Finnish mobile giant Nokia. The Nokia 2730 has basic features of a mobile phone and as well as it also includes feature of higher-end mobiles. It comes up with a pack of advance mobile features like Bluetooth, stereo FM, 2MP camer, email, Internet access, file sharing applications, music player , a voice recorder and much more. All these blasting features come at an affordable price of $135 or RS. 6500. It has dual GSM bands namely GSM 850/1900 and GSM 900/1800 and it also has 3G band support. On the best part of this mobile, it comes with Nokia’s favorite apps such as Ovi mail and Nokia life tools.
Design
The Nokia 2730 classic resembles Nokia 6700 classic in its design. The design of the Nokia 2730 classic is pretty attractive and lucrative. The Nokia 2730 has dimension of 109.6 x 46.9 x 14.4 mm, and weighs only 89grams.It has 2-inch QVGA screen, which offer reasonably good resolution and support 262000 colours. Viewing angles are restricted and 176×144 resolution and it pose difficulty in viewing the screen in sunlight. The screen comes with a mirror finish and this phone comes in Dark Magenta and Black colours. The keypad is flat, made from metal. Keys are little harder to hit and they are more noisy. Key spacing is satisfactory and silicon in between rows helps easier touch orientation. It has conventional Nokia’s navigation keypad constitute a D-pad and two soft and call keys each. On the left side of the mobile, it has microSD card slot and charge plug-ins. on the right side, it has microUSB port. On the backside of the mobile, 2MP camera has been neatly hatched.
Specifications
The Nokia 2730 classic has easy user interface pack of Nokia’s 5th edition Feature pack 1.it very easy to handle and operate. Nokia has not altered the screen much, kept same the usual time & date option and it doesn’t have active standby. It offers good voice clarity with innovative in-call sound, but lacks smart dialing option. Nokia could have improved its signal reception and you can experience audio cracking in poor network coverages.
It has usual messaging features like; you can send flash, audio, text and multimedia message. It has shared editor for text and multimedia messages. It provides quick and easy access to Gmail, Yahoomail, Nokia’s Ovi mail, AOL mail and Hotmail. You just need to enter username with password, then phone guide you through next. Not sure about connecting to social networks like Orkut and Facebook.
It has been equipped with 2megapixel camera which offer decent resolution and enables you to capture, clear pictures with good quality. Camera has fixed focus and sadly, it doesn’t have flash. It also has basic photo editing options like cropping, shading, white balance settings and self-timer. You can orient camera manually to take landscape and portrait pictures. Dynamic range of the camera is poor.
The Nokia 2730 comes up with BL-5C Li-Ion battery (1020mAh) and offers good battery life of 100 hours on standby, 12 hours of continuous music play and 7.5 talk time. it supports Bluetooth 2.0,USB 2.0,chinese English dictionary, Bluetooth stereo, windows live, voice dial, EDR, Flash lite 3.0, stereo FM, Voice recorder, MIDP java with more APIs. it doesn’t have infra-red port. It doesn’t have GPS built-in support.
Applications
The Nokia 2730 classic comes four built-in Java powered games and downloading is also possible. You can download more games if you want to and install them. It lets you to download games and themes from Ovi store. Ovi store contains thousands of games, themes, wallpapers, applications; they are available for both paid and free. Opera Mini 4.2 is the default web-browser and it enables faster and easier browsing. Opera provides intuitive incorporation of Ovi. Ovi contact facilitates you to chat comfortably with other Gtalk, Yahoo messenger and Ovi users. Ovi-Share is more like a picasa where you can upload and share photos. It doesn’t have GPS built-in support, but you can connect external GPS receptor over Bluetooth, more tedious task. It comes with built-in support for Nokia maps which offer you easier navigation with no hassle.
The Nokia 2730 classic has ‘S40’ a standard picture library. It operates with both photo galley and file browser as well. It lets you to view, share, copy and send the pictures, and offers zooms up to 2X and play slideshow also.
Conclusion
The Nokia 2730 classic is aiming at targeting economical mobile segment. It comes with lot of features at low price like email, camera, browsing and Bluetooth support and much more. It will give competition for both lower and middle range segment mobiles. Huge thumbs up over our side.
