According to the study carried out by the Department of Human Nutrition, it has been proved that Cinnamon is one of the most effective treatments for lowering the blood sugar levels. Until then the role of cinnamon in lowering the blood sugar level was a debate in the world of medicine. During the study it was found that the blood sugar level in individuals suffering from type 2 diabetes was lowered in between 18%-29%.

But the Mayo Clinic has warned that most of the physicians do not consider cinnamon as an effective aid in treating diabetes. So to be on the safer side, make sure that you consult your doctor once, before you opt for using cinnamon to assist in controlling blood sugar level. Sometimes combining both cinnamon and diabetes medication will result in fall of blood sugar level to very low point. So be cautious.

Footstep 1:

Purchase some fresh cinnamon from your local health food store or grocery shop. Cinnamon is available in two forms, habitual ground cinnamon and cinnamon supplement pills. So you can choose to buy any of the two, but if you are buying the cinnamon sticks or ground, make sure that its aroma is enough strong and sweet.

Footstep 2:

You can include cinnamon in your routine coffee or tea and even in cereals and toasts. Based on a study it is proved that including about quarter to half teaspoons of cinnamon powder in a day will assist in regulating your blood sugar levels. You can also just sprinkle the cinnamon onto your oatmeal. If you opt to buy the cinnamon supplements then consume them as recommended on the package or by your physician.

Footstep 3:

Consume some amount of cinnamon every day without fail. Keep a watch on your blood sugar level continually, especially if you are a diabetic and once your blood glucose level becomes very low, stop consuming cinnamon.
