Nose Bleeds-Home Remedies

Nose bleeds are not a serious health problem, but it is a very common problem that is found in all kinds of people. It is found more in teenage people. The individual may feel like running nose, but it would be bleeding drop by drop. Most of the times, nose bleeds are harmless and easily treated. It either begins in the front part of the nose or starts from deepest region of the nose.

The main causes of nose bleeds include: nose injury, nose picking, dryness, cold, nasal infection and hard blow or impact to the nose. Sometimes allergies also causes nose bleeds. Repeated blowing of nose also causes nose bleeds. The individual may feel warmness while nose bleeds. Some pressure can be felt in the nasal region when the nose is about to bleed.

Consult your doctor in severe cases. There are various home remedies that can be used for the treatment of nose bleeds. A few of such home remedies or natural remedies are:

  • When your nose starts to bleed, stay calm and sit in upright position. Do not bend. Also avoid lifting heavy objects for a day or two.
  • Salt spray or saline water is very effective in treating nose bleeds. Add a pinch of salt to half a glass of water and spray in your nose. This will provide immediate relief.
  • You can also try putting a few drops of lemon juice inside the bleeding nostrils. This helps in clotting of blood.
  • Apple cider vinegar is another useful home remedy. Dip cotton in apple cider vinegar. Apply this ball over the bleeding nose. This helps in stopping of bleeding.
  • Dry air causes nose bleeds. Using a humidifier to humidify the surroundings can help in treating nose bleeds.
  • The most basic home remedy for bleeding nose is applying ice packs or cold packs.
  • A wet towel can also be placed over the bleeding nostril to control the bleeding.
