Perception of Hypogonadism

Hypogonadism is a condition where the gonads i.e. the sex glands don’t produce enough hormones in the body. This is a condition which affects both the women and men and the effects of this problem will depend on the sex and age of the individual who has been affected.

Recognition:

This disorder will affect the testicles in men and ovaries in women.

Effects:

The effect of this problem on boys and girls are different. If girls are affected by this problem then periods will not be starting at the right time. Even breasts don’t develop and it will be small in size. If this problem arises in women then menstruation cycle will stop abruptly. Those women will have hot flashes; low sex drives and loses hair from their body.

If this problem arises in boys then they will not be developing beard and also they will not be experiencing any growth in muscle. There will be no growth in the testicles and penis in boys. If men get this problem they will be facing sexual dysfunction, loss of hair on the face and body and also they will develop breasts and lose muscles.

Kinds:

There are 2 kinds of hypogonadism. They are central and primary problem. Primary hypogonadism is a problem in which the sex glands malfunction by themselves but central hypogonadism is a breakdown in the pituitary gland or hypothalamus of the brain.

Analysis:

There are a variety of tests to diagnose this problem which includes sperm count, hormone level tests, blood chemistry tests, anemia test, genetic testing and iron level tests.

Treatment:

There are many therapies to treat hypogonadism. Some of them are hormone replacement therapies which embraces pituitary hormone and testosterone for men whereas estrogen and progesterone therapies for women.
