Review: Maruti Eeco has been launched

There are lots of hopes about the most awaited ‘Maruti Eeco’, which is termed as a ‘multi-purpose’ vehicle, that is launched at the ‘Auto Expo 2010’ and primarily focuses on the Indian markets. The car has sufficient space for accommodating five to seven people. The car features a 4-cylinder petrol engine of 1.2 liters and has 101Nm as its maximum torque at the rate of 3000rpm.

Maruti has launched the ‘Eeco’ in three variants: 7-seater standard, 5-seater standard and 5-seater AC standard. The showroom prices of these variants previously in Delhi are Rs.2.75 lakhs, Rs.2.59 lakhs and Rs.2.89 lakhs respectively. The car drives at a speed of 73bhp at 6000 rpm, which is its maximum. The ‘Maruti Eeco’ is designed excellently with 1475mm as its width, 3675mm as its length, 2350mm as its wheel base and 1800mm as its height.

The car generates high acceleration and engine performance with superb efficiency of fuel. The car has a robust braking system where you have the front brake outfitted with a ventilator disc which follows a drum brake at the rear portion. The ‘Eeco’ can sweep the floor with a turning radius of 4.5, which is the minimum. The key attraction of this Maruti automobile is excellent with dual-tone styling, AC and sliding driver seat. The car literally floats in air with its tyres having no tubes.

The objective of this car is to meet the requirements of a dependable business vehicle as well as a spacious family car. The car has modified compression ratios, a new injection system, Nox sensors and a 5-speed gear box of manual transmission incorporating a technology, ‘Diagonal Shift Assistance (DSA).’ This technology makes quick, noise-free changes in the gear and enhances the gear-shift quality.

Minor upgrades in design are present which includes flat loading and a spacious bay, clear lens headlamps, dual tone interiors and fog lamps. The front seats are of single piece and they include the head-rests. The ‘Maruti Eeco’ is available in six colors, has sliding doors and the car provides 15.1 kpl. The digital meter adds to the convenience of the driver along with a sophisticated feel.

The ‘Maruti Eeco’ is available in these vibrant colors namely: metallic silky silver, bright red, metallic glistening grey, metallic blue haze, superior white and metallic midnight black.

The Maruti Company has stated that it will be releasing an electric version of this car which is named as, ‘Eco Charge’ that will be developed by the engineers of Maruti Suzuki. Also, they have declared that the car will be on display in the ‘Commonwealth games.’ The Company has spent nearly 60 crores for developing this car. The ‘Eeco Charge’ has a standard 5KW Li-Ion battery offering the car, a 100km range and drives at 100kph which is its top speed.
