Samsung has launched its second version of windows mobile. It is mid a market range smart phone. It works on Windows 6.5 platform. The impressive pocket PC is a affordable device of the Omnia line up and that does not mean its functionality has been lost. The hardware components are bit different from the previous.

Design:

Samsung B7300 OmniaLite has a 3-inch screen. The screen is not enough for a windows mobile but it has a wide screen look and it is amazing it offers variety of features in that display. The resolution is 240 x 400 pixels which is the same as the first generation Omnia. The back panel offers a texture making itself unique from is first version. It definitely backs the Omnia Pro with its attractive look. Samsung B7300 OmniaLite has the dimensions 107 x 51.8 x 12.9 mm almost similar to the Samsung’s previous version. The thickness is about 12.9 mm. It seems to be very thick but not as much as Pro and suits comfortably in your hand and weights 103g.

Features

Windows mobile 6.5 brings forth certain improvements but it is definitely not a brand new operating system. Apart from the home screen Samsung seem to offers enough personalization with the touch wiz 2 interface. The personalized main menu offers pretty much the same content but the things are now arranged in four categories. The personalized task menu offers also called task switcher has a different launch option providing faster access to different applications. It allows personalization in the way that we can drag and keep our day to day features separately from the bar and use it. Other personalized application includes contacts, calendar, snap shots, multi media player and settings. As a whole it offers brand new windows mobile. It has a internal accelerometer and hence you have the option of using it in landscape, thus reducing the option of using your fingers in portrait. The 360 degree internal accelerometer detects automatically the position of the mobile and sets its accordingly.

Multi Media

The features of camera, media player and picture gallery are well concentrated. The Samsung B7300 OmniaLite comes with a 3.2 MP camera with auto focus and smile detection. It also includes a cam recorder with up to 15 flips/sec. The video quality is not bad. As always from Samsung the 3.2 MP camera takes good quality pictures even at high resolution. Pictures taken in dark conditions were also pretty good, but if you need good quality, it is better to avoid indoor snaps. It comes with the flash light accompanying for good pictures even in dim lighting conditions. The auto focus camera detects your smile accurately and takes memorable photos.

The media player plays almost all formats of audio files but the video files are restricted to a limit. The media player can be launched from the main menu of the mobile offers you to personalize your own setting. You have the option of dragging it and keeping it in the home screen. The mobile comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack but it is not of the Samsung standards. The 3.5 mm jack provides you with the option of using your choice of head set. The output through the 3.5 mm audio jack is a quality audio and does not annoy you when listening to music all day. As said, the media player does not support all formats of videos. You have the option of installing an external media player. However it would have been nice if it had been default.

Samsung B3700 OmniaLite comes with two internet connection option that is the Internet Explorer 6 and opera. The new Microsoft browser version brings up a key improvement and hence one can browse the pages almost in full screen. But it is always better to stick with the option of Opera. Internet connection options are available through Class 10 GPRS, EDGE which is of standard speed or through 3G with speed up to 3.6 Mbps.

Data Transfer

The phone is enabled with a standard microSD slot. The mobile has an internal memory of 250 MB but has the option of upgrading up to 32 GB. Data can be transferred with the help of v2.1 A2D Bluetooth. The USB port is of standard quality and hence you have also the option of using the data cable.

The phone allows you download application from the application store. The downloading options are of two basic categories. You have the option of downloading either the demo/free version or paid. The application is available with numerous Java applications which will entertain you for sure, especially games.

Final words would be that the affordable Windows smart mobile is a very good option for business and sure to guarantee your entertainment.
