Samsung M3710 Corby Beat Review
The demand for touch screen phones is increasing day by day. Samsung has understood that very well and introduced yet another Corby series Bada phone, the combination of Corby and Beat phone. Samsung has swept the market with the previous editions of Corby and targeting to continue it with its latest Samsung M3710 Corby Beat. The Corby Beat can be said as a music edition by considering the importance given to music. Special keys are added making easier to launch players and control music. The Corby Beat is yet to be launched and is expected to be in February 2010.
The Corby Beat phone has its appearance similar to Samsung’s M5650 Lindy. Most of the features are also similar except the fact that the Corby beat phone lacks 3G and video calling. This clearly shows Samsung has targeted the mid level market. The features of the phone are also similar to Nokia 5530.
The phone is enhanced with its game playing options. It will be coming with a integrated Samsung games store which makes games downloading easier. The game store will be offering Java applications, reducing the compatibility issues for developers. The phone has a 2.8-inch QVGA display displaying around 256k colors. The 98g weighing phone has dimensions 106 x 57 x 12mm. It has a internal memory of 50GB. Keeping mind the phone is partially a music edition, one has been given the option of extending the external memory up to 8GB.
It has all the other features similar to other Corby phones such as the QWERTY keying arrangement helping typing easier, Bluetooth and USB can be used as the means of local connection. Wide area connection can be done with the help of Class 10 GPRS connection speed ranging 32-48 kbps, Class 10 speeding up to 236.8 kbps and a WiFi connection. Corby Beat is to be launched in two colors, Black and Neon Blue. Unlike other Corby phones, it has a smart unlock facility.
The 3.5mm audio jack produces good quality sound. Bluetooth is considered main means of local connection and hence infrared is absent. Coming to the camera, the 3.1 MP, 2048 x 1536 pixels camera is expected to take quality picture and videos, which is one of the promising feature of Samsung. As a basic necessity these days, it come with a auto focusing option. It is expected that Samsung will fulfill the promise yet again. One can get connected to Social networking sites and keep them online on the go.
All the other Java application like Document reader, T9, Organizer, Voice memo are also present. Non Java application like calendar, calculator, world clock are present as usual. The Li-ion battery powering 960 mAh is expected to give a quality stand-by and talk time.
The phone is estimated to be marketed at around $300 which is much higher than Samsung’s Lindy the other phone from Samsung which is also in due. Though the cost is yet to be announced officially. The added fact is that Lindy comes along with 3G and video calling which is absent in Corby Beat. Chances are few for Samsung to achieve its target with such a cost. Final talks would be that let wait and see how far Corby Beat is accepted.
