Baldness is referred as alopecia and is more common in men. It refers to the falling of hair from the scalp excessively. Though hair provides a considerable amount of protection against heat or cold or any injuries, it is not an important part of the body. And the loss of hair does create a lot of embarrassment especially for women. Fortunately baldness occurs very rarely in women. Usually thinning of hair is observed as the age progresses. There may be partial baldness or complete baldness. Baldness is a situation where the rate of hair fall is higher than the rate of hair growth.
Baldness might be caused due to various factors. A few factors include: age factors, genetic and hormonal factors, weak hair roots, stress or sudden shock, excess dandruff or even poor blood circulation to the scalp. Prolonged illness such as jaundice and excess vitamin intake also causes baldness. In women abnormal periods, lesser estrogen level and post pregnancy effects cause baldness. Excessive hair loss is the sole symptom.
A few natural remedies for treating baldness are:
- Apply the paste of 2 tbsp of honey and olive oil and 1 tbsp of cinnamon powder on the affected scalp.
- Mix 3-5 tsp of curd with sufficient quantity of camphor. Keep it aside and apply it on the scalp. Wash your scalp after 3-4 hours with warm water.
- Mix honey and egg yolk and apply it on the scalp and wash after 2 hours. Try the same with onion juice and honey.
- Rub the bald are with onion for some time and then apply honey.
- Powder dried lemon seeds and powder it with pepper and mix it in water and apply over the scalp.

- Applying soapnut powder mixed in water on the scalp and washing with warm water after it dries helps in hair growth.
