Treating Blackheads

Blackheads are the bumps that appear when the sebaceous gland ducts are choked with excess oil. It is usually yellow or lack in color. It is nothing but the follicles that have wider opening than the normal follicles. It normally appears on the face, chest, back and neck regions. The black color is usually due to the residue that gets formed in the follicle. The main causes for blackheads include: oily skin and environmental pollution. The situation might get worse if proper hygiene is not maintained. The only symptom is the occurrence of black spots on the skin.
Consulting your doctor is always better especially if the blackheads are severe. A few of the home remedies include:
- Prepare a paste of crushed fenugreek leaves and water. Apply this paste to the affected area and wash with warm water after ten minutes or so. This helps in curing blackheads.
- Mix the juice of coriander leaves with half tsp of turmeric powder and apply this solution to the face before going to bed and wash with cold water the next morning.
- Prepare a paste using 1tsp of curds and rice flour and apply this paste on the affected area. Wash your face using cold water after some time. Also try paste of vinegar and cornstarch.
- Apply warm honey to the affected area and wash with water after ten minutes. This helps in curing blackheads.
- Mix 1tsp each of groundnut oil and fresh lime juice. Apply this solution to the face is a preventive measure.
- Prepare a face mask using oatmeal powder and rose water and leave it for 15 minutes before washing with cold water. You can also try sandalwood face pack with rose water for treating blackheads.
- Apply grapes pulp to the affected area and wash it with warm water after 15-20 minutes.
- Prepare a scrub using salt, honey, lemon and yogurt. Scrub your face using this mixture and wash with water after 10-15 minutes.
The above mentioned are a few of remedies that can be used to remove blackheads. There are various treatments such as chemical peeling, light squeezing, exfoliation etc. to remove blackheads.
